Origins Candi Tegowangi is in Pare, just NE of Kediri. [map reference: 1508-332 Kunjang 9:40 44.10]. Leave Kediri town following the road to Pare. One passes Sambirejo and Bendo(sari) before coming to Desa Pelem where there is an intersection. Here, turn left (West). Pass Ngeblek and Gamol. A bit further is a sign pointing to Candi Tegowangi, which is about 1.1 kms North of the road. The Candi was built in the late 14thC as a memorial to Rajasawardhana who died in 1388 AD. Description of architecture What remains today is a solid stone base measuring 7.8 x 11.2m. The superstructure would have been made of wood and did not survive.
