Origins

This <fat boy> (jaka dolog) statue is a representation of Aksobhya buddha. The statue is kept in Surabaya near the tennis courts behind Jl. Basuki Rakhmat. It originated from Mojokerto and is likely the image of King Krtanagara of Majapahit.

Inscription

The statue has a long accompanying inscription that was published by Kern in 1910. He found it difficult to translate because clear/proper use of Old Javanese was made subservient to impeccable metric.
