King Balitung, in a list dated 907 mentions the following ancestors:

Rakai Mataram sang ratu Sanjaya

The only one of the list who is not referred to as Maharaja.

Maharaja rakai Panangkaran

Krom identifies him with the ruler who refers to himself as Kariyana Panamkaranah, king of the Sailendra dynasty, and whose inscriptions lay the link with Bengal. 

Rakai Garung

Mentioned in copper deed dated 829 or 839, found at Pengging, Surakarta

Rakai Pikatan

Mentioned in a 864 deed commemoration the founding of a tax-exempt enclave on the Argapura. His personal name is Manuku. This name was also found on the 853 deed of the founding of Candi Perot. In this deed, his title is Rakai Patapan. See also the pages on sources and history.

Rakai Kayuwangi

Ruled at least between 879 and 882. A deed of 886 refers to him as King Gurunwangi, and has Sadjanotsawatungga as his posthumous title.

Rakai Watuhumalang

The ruler at the time of the edict of 886.
